Day 9 - Fishing the Pentecost River...

Sunrise at 5.42am.  Wow!

We had to put the generator on this morning because the batteries for the camper are running low.  Then we went down for a swim at the homestead and had lunch and I had chips and a milkshake.

Gone fishing!  We’re getting our fishing gear ready to go out on the Pentecost for a fish.  We’re getting the fishing rods, two ways, the boat ready to go.  After that we launched the boat and we went up the Pentecost for a look around and a fish.

On the boat we saw 4 crocs on the bank of the river.  We tried to get a photo but they got back in the water before we could snap them.

 The Durack River

The tide went out quickly and we had trouble getting back and it was pitch black and the water was infested with crocs. We kept getting stuck among the rocks. Dad and Mick had to get out of the boat and push the boat over a rock step-up.  It was an adventure and a half!!  Especially when we shone the torch around and could see red eyes from the crocs watching us.  Some other campers were worried & were about to call us in missing.  But the sunset was great.

It was a bit muddy getting out of the boat.

We got back to camp at 7.30pm, and it was dark.  Not bad since we left camp at 1pm.  No lamb roast tonight, it was noodles instead.  Maybe roast tomorrow night.  Oh, and after all that, the fish weren't biting!!

Note:-  Some information has been intentionally left out as to not cause undue panic to mum.  (Dad reckons what happens on tour stays on tour)  ;)

Be back soon.  Bye for now.
