Day 26 - Mt Hart to Windjana Gorge

After breaky this morning, we had a quick look around the old Mt Hart Homestead and then started off for Windjana Gorge bush camp.

This was a Bower Bird's nest on the ground.

Old homestead, which was hand built.

The Napier Ranges.

Queen Victoria's head.

When we got there we set up camp and went for a walk in the gorge.

When we were in the gorge we saw some freshwater crocks.  There was this one croc down a little hill and I accidently dropped my camera case down there and dad had to go get it!  The croc was about a couple of meters away from it.

This was once a barrier reef during the Devonian period.  Some of these cliffs are 100m high and were under water.  They found fossils of turtles & crocs in caves 40m above the current river level.  They estimate some of the crocs would have been over 7m in length.  Dad reckons it would have been a good spot to fish.  Imagine the size of the barra!

When we were on our way back there was a 1 km gorge walk so I went for a little run.

Another late afternoon flight to somewhere.

Then we sat around the fire, had dinner and went to bed.

Bye for now,

Cooper  :)
